Accessibility
Everyone should be able to check the record.
A record that some people cannot read is not a public record. chyren.world aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA on every page, on phones, tablets and desktops.
Today
What the site does
- A skip link at the top of every page, one main heading per page and headings in order.
- Visible focus outlines and keyboard access to every link, button, menu and table.
- Touch targets at least 44 pixels tall in the navigation and menu.
- Text alternatives for images, labeled data tables and plain-language definitions for specialist words.
- Motion that switches off when your device asks for reduced motion.
- Clean text versions of each transmission for screen readers and other tools.
Known limits
Where the site still falls short
- The site has only a dark color scheme for now.
- Some wide ledger tables scroll sideways on small screens.
- The paper’s figures are diagrams. Each carries a written description, but a complex diagram described in a sentence is still a diagram you cannot see.
- Inline definitions rely on a browser feature that very old browsers do not support; the text still reads normally there.
